At first I was inclined to agree, but then I got to thinking what exactly the word "Christian" means. My preferred usage is to mean historical, orthodox Christianity as formalized in early creeds (e.g. the Apostle's Creed or the Nicene Creed). On such a definition, Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, and other similar sects that deny the Trinity and other central orthodox beliefs are distinctly out. Can we argue that this is the best definition? Why not apply "Christian" to any religion with Jesus as the central figure?
Somehow I have the feeling the first definition is the one most commonly used within orthodox Christian communities, while the second one is preferred by the heterodox, with those outside both communities using either one or not caring at all.
