Missions of mercy

Last month, catastrophic flooding devastated the southern half of North Korea. On August 30th, Samaritan's Purse airlifted 92 tons (over $8 million worth) of relief goods directly to Pyongyang.

"We've been told that this airlift is the first direct flight from the U.S. to North Korea since the Korean War," said Franklin Graham, President and CEO of Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

Samaritan's Purse's website provides two videos showing some of the damage and the airlift mission. You may contribute support.

At about the same time the floods were occurring in North Korea, Peru's central coast experienced a 7.8-magnitude earthquake that nearly obliterated the city of Pisco and others. Several organizations have been providing relief, including World Vision, who is also offering psychological counseling for children. You may donate to this effort as well.

(Samaritan's Purse also has a relief project for Peru, as does World Vision for North Korea.)
