China Ministries International

A good friend of my husband's and mine (a fellow trumpet graduate from the Eastman School of Music) has been a missionary in China for many years. I have wanted to blog about his work but, due to security issues, cannot. However, I can tell you about one of his support organizations, China Ministries International. You can read their 2006 annual report at the link.

More than 2000 Chinese Christians including pastors, itinerant pastors, and evangelists were arrested and sent to prisons for their preaching and worship in house churches in 2005. Part of CMI's ministry has been to assist these pastors and their families during their time of imprisonment. CMI credits the suffering of these saints for the phenomenal growth of the Chinese church over the past 40 years.

CMI will be holding a seminar in the US on October 6, 2007 at the William Carey International University in Pasadena, CA to discuss the following questions:

* How is mission and evangelism carried out in China by the House Churches today?
* What price has the Church paid?
* What is the result of their pervasive and active obedience?
* What is the future outlook of China's Christianity?
