Who says there isn't beauty (or at least interest) in old, unkept things?

Very nice, I like the perspective and colours.
Posted by: Miss O'Hara at January 28, 2007 2:04 PMI think you're trying to cram several photos into one here, Bonnie. With a wide shot like this, the range between the brights and the darks is probably too much to do justice to either. There are many opportunities here... I'd zoom in on each of the opportunities one by one.
Posted by: Rusty Lopez at January 28, 2007 7:02 PMInteresting comment, Rusty, thanks.
I was looking at the interplay of lines and shapes. I agree that there is too much contrast, and if I had a better digital photo-editor, I would have done some dodging and burning. At the same time, though, that would've flattened the image.
One of the things I've been critiqued for before was my "formalism" and lack of 3-D depth. I guess I don't know whether that's really a problem or not. But I probably can't succeed at both 2-D and 3-D at the same time.
