Thank you, veterans

Thank you to all of our readers here who are veterans. I appreciate the work you have done and the sacrifices you have made for the rest of us.

Thank you to my brother-in-law John, who ships out to Iraq for the first time in just a few days. Thank you also to my other brother-in-law, Joey.

Today I am thankful especially for the service of a very dear childhood friend, Lcpl Darin Thomas Settle. He died in Iraq 2 ½ years ago.

Thank you, veterans, for allowing us to honor you. It is good for us to remember your service, and you do us a great service by permitting us to do so.

You're welcome!

Now, I wonder which of our liberal and atheistic commenters will be the first to have the temerity and poor taste to show up and claim that veterans are all dupes who served for a lie?

That was most kind of you. I also want to pay honor to a legendary Marine who meant a lot to me and my husband, Col. John Ripley, who passed away last week.

In all fairness, there are many liberals and atheists who have served in the US military, some, with distinction. There are also many liberals and atheists who honor the service of those who serve and served. We should avoid painting with a broad brush and condemning people who have not yet done anything wrong.

Wow, you really like that victimization card don't you? Well don't worry, the position for the conservative Al Sharpton is still open. Don't assume Bill O'Reilly has a lock on it! Apply today!

You are welcome. It is an honor to serve our country. My time in Iraq was tougher on my family than it was on me. You can go through a lot with your unit. I want to thank CPT Joel Cahill and SPC Matt Alexander, two men whose parents attend our church. They gave their lives for our freedom, with the Army in Iraq.
