Prudence as the Basis for Foreign Policy

Since the end of the Cold War America has been trying to determine a rationale on which to build it’s foreign policy. Steve Bainbridge believes we should base is on the virtue of prudence and examines how that plays out in the Iraqi conflict.

I have to admit that I’m intrigued by the concept and hope that he will explore it in more detail. I find it more enticing than either the Powell Doctrine or Kissinger’s Realpolitik.

Update: I should also point out that Professor Bainbridge is currently ranked #29 on Blogrunner's Most Influential Reporters and Bloggers. Since he beat out such noteworthy reporters as Victor Davis Hanson (#60) of National Review and William Saletan (#42) of Slate.com, I would say that is a pretty impressive achievment.
