i went back and read the comments regarding kinkaide. i am a painter and of course could share a lengthy diatribe on this feller but for me it comes down to this, anything that gets people interested in art is good. but people should know he doesn't paint much, too busy marketing himself, which is where the rubber meets the road for me. for those of you who like this stuff go to a local gallery and i am sure you will be amazed at the talent right in your own backyard. buy local! thanks

You're missing one important element in criticizing Kinkade's later work--the lighting. When viewed in the proper lighting, the bright spots of the painting will appear to glow and reflect light from the imaginary light source. The effect is sublime. Cao Yong is also a master at this. You don't see that by looking on a computer screen.

I also read the comments from you February post on Kinkade. Though I'm a cretin, I thought you made some good points about Kinkade's work.

You mention that there are no world class artists from the conservative Protestant community in the 20th century. Again, I'm a cretin, so I don't have knowledge about such things but I wonder if Mako Fujimura qualifies as an acclaimed artist who is also a person of faith?
