The Enemy of My Friend… When my former service provider (bloghosts.com) went out of business I decided to switch to Hosting Matters since I figured they would be consistently reliable. I figured if Instapundit, Captain’s Quarters, and TTLB all used it then it must never go down, right?
Well, not quite. Twice this weekend the server suffered a DDOS attacks. Because HM hosts such high profile blogs, it undoubtedly makes them a juicy target. Unfortunately, I failed to consider that when I chose them as my hosting service. I didn't realize that the enemies of my server mates become my enemies too. The hackers may be out to attack the high profile targets, but the smaller blogs suffer the collateral damage.

If you haven't already signed up for a year-long hosting agreement with them, then I suggest you switch to http://www.dreamhost.com. My blog is hosted there and they have great service. I've had an account with them for about two years now without any problems, and the feature/price ratio is great.
