Communist China's Christmas Conundrum

Being a Communist nowadays can't be easy. Just ask the Chinese. Their attempts to promote a secular "festive holiday season" is not having the intended effect.

The Chinese government has outlawed both evangelical Christianity and Roman Catholicism as "evil cults." Yet their country is the world's biggest factory for Christmas products.

As the holiday exports grow, so does the "underground church" movement. Could there be a connection? The country prohibits crosses from being displayed on the outside of churches yet allow factory workers to manufacture nativity scenes of the baby Jesus. Is this exposure to religious symbolism allowing a form of "stealth Christianity" to sneak in under the wire?

Maybe the Communist should call the ACLU for help…

Thanks, I appreciate that. But does my disrespect for the Chinese government and the ACLU mean you have to take back the compliment? ; )
